Tos con sangre

Definición:

La tos con sangre es la expectoración o expulsión de sangre o moco sanguinolento de los pulmones y la garganta (tracto respiratorio).

Consideraciones generales:

Hemoptisis es el término médico para la expectoración con sangre proveniente del tracto respiratorio.

La tos con sangre no es lo mismo que el sangrado de la boca, la garganta o el tracto gastrointestinal.

La sangre que sale con la tos a menudo tiene apariencia espumosa porque se mezcla con el aire y el moco y por lo general es de color rojo brillante.
