Solicite una cita con el médico si presenta tumores o una hinchazón anormal en el cuello.

Lo que se puede esperar en el consultorio médico:

El médico tomará la historia clínica y realizará un examen físico.

Las preguntas de la historia clínica pueden ser las siguientes:

  • ¿Es un tumor duro?
  • ¿Es una masa relativamente blanda y flexible similar a una bolsa (quística)?
  • ¿Es una masa indolora similar a una bolsa (quística)?
  • ¿Se presenta hinchazón en todo el cuello?
  • ¿Dónde está ubicado el tumor?
  • ¿Ha estado aumentando de tamaño? ¿Durante cuántos meses?
  • ¿Qué otros síntomas también se presentan?
  • ¿Hay una erupción?
  • ¿Se presenta dificultad respiratoria?

Si se le diagnostica bocio en la tiroides, se puede necesitar medicamento o cirugía para extirparlo. Si el médico sospecha de un nódulo tiroideo, lo siguiente puede ayudar en el diagnóstico y tratamiento:

Si el tumor es causado por una infección bacteriana, se pueden necesitar antibióticos. Si la causa es una masa benigna o un quiste, es posible que se requiera cirugía para extirparlo.
