Definición:

Es la presencia de pezones adicionales.

Consideraciones generales:

Los pezones supernumerarios son bastante comunes y generalmente no tienen relación con otras afecciones o síndromes. Los pezones adicionales usualmente se presentan en una fila por debajo de los pezones existentes y con frecuencia no se los reconoce como pezones extra, debido a que tienden a ser pequeños y a no estar bien formados.

Causas comunes:

  • Variación del desarrollo normal
  • Algunos síndromes genéticos raros pueden estar asociados con los pezones supernumerarios

Cuidados en el hogar:

Generalmente no se necesita tratamiento. Estos pezones adicionales NO se desarrollan en las mamas en la pubertad.

Se debe consultar con el médico si se presentan pezones supernumerarios en un bebé y no hay otros síntomas

El médico lleva a cabo un examen físico y hace preguntas acerca de la historia clínica del paciente. Igualmente, se registra el número y localización de los pezones adicionales.
