Cuidados en el hogar:

  • Evitar las legumbres (fríjoles), el repollo y las bebidas carbonatadas
  • Evitar la goma de mascar
  • Masticar bien el alimento
  • Comer más despacio
  • Relajarse al comer
  • Caminar durante 10 a 15 minutos después de comer

  • Tiene otros síntomas aparte de los gases, como dolor abdominal o rectal, acidez gástrica, náuseas, vómitos, diarrea, estreñimiento o pérdida de peso.
  • Presenta heces fétidas con apariencia aceitosa o heces con sangre.

El médico llevará a cabo un examen físico con atención especial en el abdomen y hará preguntas acerca de los síntomas, tales como:

  • ¿Cómo es su dieta?
  • ¿Ha cambiado su dieta recientemente?
  • ¿Cuáles son los alimentos que ingiere comúnmente?
  • ¿Cuáles alimentos ha ingerido recientemente?
  • ¿Ha incrementado la fibra en la dieta?
  • ¿Qué tan rápido come, mastica y traga?
  • ¿Se podría decir que los gases son leves o abundantes?
  • ¿Los gases parecen estar relacionados con el consumo de productos lácteos u otros alimentos específicos?
  • ¿Qué parece mejorar el problema?
  • ¿Qué medicamentos toma?
  • ¿Presenta otros síntomas como dolor abdominal, diarrea, saciedad temprana (llenura prematura después de las comidas), distensión o pérdida de peso?
