Protuberancia en el testículo

Se debe llamar al médico si:

Consulte con el médico de inmediato si nota algún tumor inexplicable o cualquier otro cambio en los testículos.

Lo que se puede esperar en el consultorio médico:

El médico realiza el examen físico que puede abarcar una inspección y palpación de los testículos y del escroto. El médico puede hacer preguntas acerca del tumor como las siguientes:

¿Cuándo notó el tumor o protuberancia?
¿Ha tenido algunos tumores previos?
¿Siente algún dolor?
¿Cambia el tumor de tamaño?
¿Está comprometido sólo uno de los testículos?
¿En qué parte del testículo está exactamente el tumor?
¿Ha tenido alguna lesión o infección reciente?
¿Qué otros síntomas tiene?
¿Presenta inflamación escrotal?
¿Presenta dolor abdominal?
¿Presenta algún tumor o inflamación en otra parte?
¿Alguna vez le han practicado una cirugía en los testículos o en el área?
¿Nació con ambos testículos en el escroto?

Las pruebas y tratamientos dependen de los resultados del examen físico.

Prevención:

Comenzando en la pubertad, los hombres en riesgo de cáncer testicular deben examinarse los testículos regularmente. Esto abarca hombres con:

Antecedentes familiares de cáncer testicular
Un tumor testicular previo
Criptorquidia, aún si el testículo en el otro lado ha descendido

Estos hombres deben realizarse un autoexamen testicular cada mes, de tal manera que se pueda detectar un tumor o masa testicular oportunamente. Un tumor en el testículo puede ser el primer signo de cáncer testicular.
