Cuidados en el hogar:

En caso de un dolor óseo inexplicable, se debe consultar con el médico.

Se debe llamar al médico si:

Cualquier dolor o sensibilidad en los huesos se debe tomar muy en serio y se recomienda consultar con el médico en caso de presentarse alguno de manera inexplicable.

Lo que se puede esperar en el consultorio médico:

El médico hará preguntas acerca de la historia clínica y llevará a cabo un examen físico.

Las preguntas de la historia clínica pueden ser:

  • Localización del dolor:
    • ¿Siente dolor en los antebrazos, manos, parte inferior de las piernas o pies (extremidades distales)?
    • ¿Siente dolor en la parte principal del brazo o la pierna?
    • ¿Siente dolor en los talones (dolor calcáneo)?
  • Patrón y tiempo del dolor:
    • ¿Cuándo sintió el dolor por primera vez (a qué edad comenzó el dolor)?
    • ¿Desde cuándo siente el dolor?
    • ¿Está empeorando?
  • ¿Qué otros síntomas presenta?

Los exámenes de diagnóstico que pueden realizarse son:

Dependiendo de la causa del dolor, el médico puede prescribir:

  • Antibióticos
  • Medicamentos antinflamatorios
  • Hormonas
  • Laxantes (si se presenta estreñimiento durante el reposo prolongado en cama)
  • Analgésicos
