Apetito desenfrenado - Overview

Tendencia a comer en exceso; Comer en exceso en forma compulsiva; Comer en exceso compulsivamente

Definición:

Se presenta cuando una persona come una cantidad de alimento mucho más grande en un período de tiempo más corto de lo que normalmente lo haría. Durante esta situación, la persona también experimenta una sensación de pérdida de control.

Consideraciones:

Una persona que come en exceso a menudo:

  • Consume de 5,000 a 15, 000 calorías en una sentada.
  • Frecuentemente toma refrigerios, además de consumir las tres comidas diarias.
  • Come en exceso a lo largo del día, en lugar de simplemente consumir cantidades grandes de alimento durante las comilonas.

El apetito desenfrenado por sí solo generalmente conduce al sobrepeso.

El apetito desenfrenado puede ocurrir espontáneamente o en el contexto de un trastorno alimentario, como la bulimia. Las personas bulímicas típicamente consumen, por lo regular en secreto, grandes cantidades de alimentos ricos en calorías. Causas:

La causa del apetito desenfrenado se desconoce. Sin embargo, con frecuencia comienza durante o después de una dieta estricta.
