Crisis hemolítica

Definición:

Es la rápida destrucción de los glóbulos rojos sanguíneos ( hemólisis ). Esta destrucción ocurre más rápidamente de lo que le toma al cuerpo producir más glóbulos rojos.

Consideraciones generales:

Una crisis hemolítica ocasiona anemia aguda (y con frecuencia grave), debido a que el cuerpo no puede producir suficientes glóbulos rojos para reemplazar aquellos destruidos, lo cual puede llevar a que se presente daño renal.

Las crisis hemolíticas en personas con deficiencia de glucosa- 6- fosfato deshidrogenasa pueden ser mortales.

Causas comunes:

Los defectos dentro de los glóbulos rojos y los problemas con la sangre pueden llevar a que se presenten anemias hemolíticas , las cuales destruyen glóbulos rojos en forma muy precoz. Tales afecciones pueden llevar a que se presente una crisis hemolítica.

Otras causas abarcan:

• Deficiencia de glucosa-6-fosfato deshidrogenasa
• Enfermedad drepanocítica
