Postura de decorticación - Treatment

Las afecciones que causan la postura de decorticación requieren tratamiento inmediato en un hospital.

Lo que se puede esperar en el consultorio médico:

La persona recibirá tratamiento de emergencia inmediatamente, incluyendo la colocación de un tubo de respiración y asistencia respiratoria. Es probable que la persona sea hospitalizada y la dejen en cuidados intensivos.

Después de que la condición esté estable, el médico obtendrá la historia clínica de los miembros de la familia y se llevará a cabo un examen físico más detallado. Esto incluirá una evaluación cuidadosa del sistema nervioso.

Las preguntas de la historia clínica pueden ser:

  • ¿Cuándo empezó este comportamiento?
  • ¿Hay algún patrón en las posturas?
  • ¿Es siempre el mismo tipo de postura?

El pronóstico depende de la causa de la postura. Puede haber lesión o daño al cerebro o al sistema nervioso, lo cual puede dejar a la persona con problemas a largo plazo, como:

  • Coma
  • Incapacidad para comunicarse
  • Parálisis
  • Convulsiones
