Prominencia frontal - Overview

Definición:

Es una frente inusualmente prominente, algunas veces asociada con un puente frontal más pronunciado de lo normal.

Consideraciones generales:

La prominencia frontal se ve solamente en unos cuantos síndromes poco comunes, como acromegalia, un trastorno crónico causado por la presencia de demasiada hormona del crecimiento, que lleva a un agrandamiento de los huesos de la cara, la mandíbula, las manos, los pies y el cráneo.

Causas comunes:

Acromegalia
Síndrome del nevo de células basales
Sífilis congénita
Disostosis cleidocraneal
Síndrome de Crouzon
Síndrome de Hurler
Síndrome de Pfeiffer
Síndrome de Rubinstein-Taybi
Síndrome de Russell-Silver (enano de Russell-Silver)
Uso del fármaco anticonvulsivo trimetadiona durante el embarazo
