Micrognacia - Treatment

Cuidados en el hogar:

Si la micrognacia interfiere con la alimentación, se necesitarán equipos y técnicas de alimentación especiales. Dichas técnicas se pueden aprender a través de programas especiales que están disponibles en la mayoría de los hospitales.

Consulte con el médico si:

  • Su hijo parece tener una mandíbula muy pequeña.
  • Su hijo tiene dificultad para alimentarse adecuadamente.

Lo que se puede esperar en el consultorio médico:

El médico llevará a cabo un examen físico y puede hacer preguntas acerca de la historia del problema, tales como:

  • ¿Cuándo notó por primera vez que la mandíbula era pequeña?
  • ¿Qué tan grave es?
  • ¿Tiene el niño dificultad para comer?
  • ¿Qué otros síntomas están presentes?

El examen físico incluirá una cuidadosa revisión de la boca.

Si hay otros síntomas de una afección hereditaria, al niño se le puede hacer una evaluación para diagnosticar ese trastorno. Igualmente, el médico podría recomendar cirugía o dispositivos de ortodoncia.
