Córnea opaca

Definición:

Es la pérdida de transparencia de la córnea.

Consideraciones generales:

La córnea es normalmente una estructura transparente, casi invisible, que cubre el iris del ojo y sus dos funciones son transmitir y refractar la luz que entra al ojo. Ciertas enfermedades metabólicas, trauma, enfermedades infecciosas, deficiencias nutricionales y situaciones del medio ambiente pueden causar la opacidad de la córnea. Dicha opacidad ocasiona un grado variable de pérdida visual .
