Cuáles Son Los Riesgos:

Los riesgos más significativos son dolor, sangrado o infección, al igual que perforación (ruptura) de la pared intestinal en caso de endoscopia gastrointestinal.

Se pueden presentar reacciones a la anestesia, aunque es poco común. Por esta razón se controla la respiración, la presión arterial, la frecuencia cardíaca y el nivel de oxígeno durante el procedimiento.

Consideraciones especiales:

Las endoscopias también se pueden utilizar para llevar a cabo procedimientos de tratamiento; por ejemplo, se puede detener el sangrado de las lesiones y extirpar los pólipos del colon.

Durante un ultrasonido endoscópico, se puede insertar una aguja en el área de interés con el fin de obtener una muestra de células, lo cual se denomina biopsia con aguja fina.
