Definición:

Se trata de un examen para medir la presencia de anticuerpos anti-células parietales del estómago. Las células parietales secretan el factor intrínseco y el ácido gástrico.

Forma en que se realiza el examen:

La sangre se extrae de una vena y se envía al laboratorio, donde el suero (la porción líquida de la sangre) es separado de las células. Luego, una muestra del suero se coloca en un portaobjetos con muestras del riñón y del estómago de un ratón, que contienen células parietales. Si el suero extraído del paciente tiene anticuerpos contra células parietales, éstas reaccionarán con las células parietales que se encuentran en el portaobjetos.

Preparación para el examen:

No se necesita ningún tipo de preparación especial para este examen.

Razones por las que se realiza el examen:

El médico puede usar esta prueba, al igual que otros exámenes, como ayuda en el diagnóstico de la anemia perniciosa.
