Valores normales:

  • Conteo de células: menos de 0 a 5 glóbulos blancos (GB) y 0 glóbulos rojos (GR)
  • Cultivo y sensibilidad: ausencia de crecimiento de organismos
  • Proteína: 15 a 45 mg/dl
  • Glucosa: 50 a 80 mg/100 ml
  • Serología para sífilis: ausencia de anticuerpos
  • Hongos: ausencia de hongos
  • Inmunofijación: un bandeo o menos
  • Glutamina: 6 a 15 mg/dl
  • Lactato deshidrogenasa: menos de 2,0 a 7,2 U/ml
  • Cloruro: 700 a 750 mg/dl
  • Citología: ausencia de células malignas

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Los resultados de glutamina anormales pueden indicar encefalopatía hepática o síndrome de Reye y los niveles de lactato deshidrogenasa pueden indicar inflamación o infección. La disminución de glucosa puede indicar meningitis debido a bacterias, hongo o tuberculosis y el aumento de los glóbulos blancos puede indicar una infección u otro proceso inflamatorio.
