Valores normales:

Valor pico normal: al menos 10 ng/mL
Indeterminado: 5 a 10 ng/mL
Subnormal: 5 ng/mL

(Un valor normal descarta una deficiencia en la GH humana; en algunos laboratorios, el nivel normal es de 7 ng/mL.)

Nota: ng/mL = nanogramo por mililitro.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Si este examen no eleva los niveles de la hormona del crecimiento, existe una disminución en la cantidad de la GH humana almacenada en la hipófisis anterior.

En los niños, esta situación ocasiona deficiencia de la hormona del crecimiento y en los adultos puede estar asociada con panhipopituitarismo o deficiencia de la hormona del crecimiento.
