Los granulocitos son un tipo de glóbulo blanco que incluye neutrófilos, eosinófilos y basófilos. Se denominan granulocitos debido a que están compuestos de pequeños gránulos que contienen proteínas importantes.
Los granulocitos ayudan al cuerpo a combatir infecciones bacterianas. Las personas que tienen cantidades bajas de granulocitos son más susceptibles a contraer infecciones graves y frecuentes.
Los granulocitos se cuentan como parte de una fórmula leucocítica.
