Definición:

Es una prueba que mide cuán rápido puede exhalar aire una persona y es uno de los muchos exámenes que mide qué tan bien están funcionando los pulmones.

Forma en que se realiza el examen:

Este examen requiere un monitor del flujo espiratorio máximo, un pequeño dispositivo manual con una boquilla en un extremo y una báscula con un indicador móvil (generalmente una pequeña flecha de plástico).

Para hacer este examen:

  • Inspire lo más profundamente posible
  • Sople dentro de la boquilla del instrumento tan fuerte y rápido como pueda
  • Haga esto 3 veces y registre la tasa de flujo más alta

Preparación para el examen:

Aflójese cualquier prenda de vestir apretada que pudiera restringir la respiración. Siéntese derecho o póngase de pie mientras se realiza las pruebas.
