EL riesgo está asociado con la parte de estimulación calórica del examen. La presión excesiva del agua puede dañar un tímpano previamente lesionado, pero esto ocurre con poca frecuencia. La estimulación calórica no debe realizarse si el tímpano está perforado porque puede causar infección del oído.
