Aspartato aminotransferasa (AST); Transaminasa glutámica oxaloacética del suero; TGOS

Definición:

Es una enzima que se encuentra en altas cantidades en las células del miocardio, el hígado y el músculo. También se encuentra en menores cantidades en otros tejidos.

Este artículo aborda el examen para medir la cantidad de AST en la sangre.

Forma en que se realiza el examen:

Lo que se siente durante el examen:

Cuando se inserta la aguja para extraer la sangre, algunas personas sienten un dolor moderado, mientras que otras sólo sienten un pinchazo o sensación de picadura. Posteriormente, puede haber algo de sensación pulsátil.

Este examen se hace principalmente junto con otras pruebas (como la ALT, ALP y bilirrubina) para diagnosticar y vigilar enfermedad hepática .
