Cuáles son los riesgos:

Las venas y arterias varían de tamaño de un paciente otro y de un lado del cuerpo a otro, razón por la cual obtener una muestra de sangre de algunas personas puede resultar más difícil que de otras.

Los riesgos pueden abarcar:

Sangrado excesivo
Desmayo o sensación de mareo
Hematoma (acumulación de sangre bajo la piel)
Infección (un riesgo leve cada vez que se presenta ruptura de la piel)

Consideraciones especiales:

El hecho de apretar el puño o tener la banda elástica en el brazo por un largo período de tiempo mientras se extrae la sangre puede incrementar artificialmente el nivel de ácido láctico.
