Valores normales:

Un resultado negativo o no reactivo indica que no existe infección presente ni pasada con sífilis.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Un FTA-ABS positivo por lo general indica infección con sífilis y es un resultado que seguirá siendo positivo de por vida aun si esta enfermedad ha sido tratada en forma apropiada. Por lo tanto, no se puede utilizar para vigilar el tratamiento de la sífilis.

Otras enfermedades como el pian y la pinta también pueden producir resultados para FTA-ABS positivos.
