Valores normales:

En una persona no alérgica, las pruebas de alergia deben resultar negativas (ninguna reacción al alergeno).

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Muy a menudo, un resultado positivo significa que la persona es alérgica a la sustancia en cuestión. Las pruebas cutáneas son más confiables cuando se prueban sustancias aerotransportadas, como la caspa de animales o el polen. Sin embargo, si la dosis del alergeno es excesiva, se presentará una reacción positiva incluso en personas que no son alérgicas.
