Valores normales:

En una persona no alérgica, las pruebas de alergia deben resultar negativas (ninguna reacción al alergeno).

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Un resultado positivo significa que usted reaccionó a una sustancia específica. Con frecuencia, aunque no siempre, un resultado positivo significa que los síntomas que usted está experimentando se deben a la exposición a la sustancia en cuestión. En general, una respuesta más fuerte significa que usted es más sensible a la sustancia.

Las personas pueden tener una respuesta positiva con la prueba cutánea para la alergia, pero no tener ningún tipo de problemas con la sustancia específica en cada día de la vida.

Las pruebas cutáneas generalmente son confiables. Sin embargo, si la dosis del alergeno es excesiva, se presentará una reacción positiva incluso en personas que no son alérgicas.
