Examen de reagina rápida en plasma; Prueba de detección de sífilis

Valores normales:

Un resultado negativo de la prueba se considera normal. Sin embargo, el cuerpo no siempre produce anticuerpos específicamente en respuesta a las bacterias de la sífilis, de tal manera que la prueba no siempre es exacta. Los resultados falsos negativos pueden ocurrir en personas con sífilis en etapa temprana y tardía. Es posible que se necesiten más pruebas antes de descartar la sífilis.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Un resultado positivo de la prueba puede significar que usted tiene sífilis. Si la prueba de detección es positiva, el siguiente paso es confirmar el diagnóstico con una prueba más específica para sífilis, como FTA-ABS, que ayudará a diferenciar entre sífilis y otras infecciones.

La capacidad de la reagina plasmática rápida para detectar la sífilis depende de la etapa de la enfermedad. La prueba es supremamente sensible (casi del 100%) durante las etapas medias de la sífilis y es menos sensible durante las etapas más tempranas y más tardías de la enfermedad.
