Significado de los resultados anormales:

Los resultados anormales muestran que la persona tiene anticuerpos antiplaquetarios, los cuales se unen a las plaquetas y las destruyen. Esto provoca un bajo conteo de plaquetas, que puede llevar a un sangrado excesivo.

Los anticuerpos antiplaquetarios pueden aparecer en la sangre por razones desconocidas (púrpura trombicitopénica idiopática) o como efecto secundario de ciertos medicamentos como la heparina. Estos medicamentos pueden, algunas veces, hacer que el sistema inmunitario identifique sus propias plaquetas como anormales o extrañas y que las ataque.
