Valores normales:

VCM: de 80 a 100 fentolitros.

HCM: de 27 a 31 picogramos/célula.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Los siguientes son los tipos de anemia y sus causas:

Anemia normocítica/normocrómica (NC/NC): por pérdida de sangre, prótesis de válvulas del corazón, sepsis, tumor o anemia aplásica.
Anemia microcítica/hipocrómica: por deficiencia de hierro, intoxicación con plomo o talasemia
Anemia microcítica/normocrómica: una deficiencia de la hormona eritropoyetina a partir de una insuficiencia renal
Anemia macrocítica/normocrómica: por quimioterapia, deficiencia de folato o deficiencia de vitamina B-12
