Calcitonina - Resultados

Valores normales:

Un valor normal es de menos de 10 pg/ml (picogramos por mililitro).

Los rangos de los valores normales pueden variar ligeramente entre diferentes laboratorios. La persona debe hablar con el médico acerca del significado de los resultados específicos de su examen.

Es común observar valores normales diferentes para mujeres y hombres. Algunas veces, los médicos toman un segundo (e incluso un tercer) examen del nivel de calcitonina en la sangre después de una infusión intravenosa de calcio, especialmente cuando el médico sospecha de un carcinoma medular de la tiroides. Este examen adicional es necesario si el valor de referencia de la calcitonina es normal.
