Un resultado normal significa que el virus del herpes simple no proliferó en la caja de Petri, lo cual es un signo de que la muestra de piel está libre de dicha infección.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Los resultados anormales pueden indicar que la persona puede tener una infección activa con el virus herpes simple. Un ejemplo de tal infección es el herpes genital (herpes genital simple).

Los resultados anormales también pueden deberse a la propagación viral asintomática.
