Cultivo de piel - Overview

Definición:

Es un examen de laboratorio para buscar e identificar sustancias patógenas en una muestra de piel. Se denomina cultivo mucoso si la muestra involucra las membranas mucosas.

Forma en que se realiza el examen:

La muestra se envía al laboratorio y se coloca en una caja o plato especial, llamado medio de cultivo. El equipo del laboratorio lo revisa en diferentes períodos de tiempo para ver si ha habido proliferación de alguna bacteria, virus u hongo. Se pueden hacer exámenes adicionales para identificar el microorganismo específico y determinar el mejor tratamiento.
