Significado de los resultados anormales:

Si hay bacterias presentes, es indicio de meningitis bacteriana. Otros tipos de infección podrían abarcar tuberculosis e infecciones micóticas. Ciertas bacterias o virus también se pueden detectar empleando exámenes especiales.
