Ventriculografía nuclear - Overview

Definición:

Es un examen que emplea materiales radiactivos llamados marcadores para mostrar las cámaras del corazón. Este procedimiento es no invasivo y los instrumentos no tocan directamente el corazón.

Forma en que se realiza el examen:

El examen se hace mientras se está en reposo.

El médico inyectará un material radiactivo llamado tecnecio dentro de la vena. Esta sustancia se adhiere a los glóbulos rojos y pasa a través del corazón.

Unas cámaras o escáneres especiales rastrean la sustancia a medida que ésta viaja a través del área del corazón. En otras palabras, los glóbulos rojos dentro del corazón, que llevan el material radiactivo, forman una imagen que la cámara ve. Las imágenes se pueden combinar con un electrocardiograma. Utilizando un programa para computadora, las imágenes se hacen aparecer como si el corazón se estuviera moviendo.

Preparación para el examen:

Es posible que se le solicite no comer ni tomar bebidas durante varias horas antes del examen.

Lo que se siente durante el examen:

La persona puede sentir un breve pinchazo o pellizco cuando le insertan la vía intravenosa, generalmente en el brazo, y es probable que tenga problemas para permanecer inmóvil durante el examen.

El examen muestra qué tan bien se está bombeando la sangre a través de diferentes partes del corazón.
