Riesgos:

Los riesgos asociados con una punción lumbar abarcan dolor en el sitio de la inyección, sangrado e infección. También existe una posibilidad muy remota de daño a nervios.

La cantidad de radiación utilizada durante una gammagrafía es muy pequeña y prácticamente desaparece por completo al cabo de unos cuantos días. No se ha informado de casos de lesiones o daños producidos por el radioisótopo utilizado con esta gammagrafía. Sin embargo, como sucede con cualquier tipo de exposición a la radiación, se recomienda precaución si usted está embarazada o amamantando.

En casos extremadamente poco comunes, se puede presentar una reacción alérgica al radioisótopo utilizado durante la gammagrafía, lo cual puede incluir una reacción anafiláctica grave.

Consideraciones:

Usted debe permanecer acostado después de la punción lumbar para ayudar a prevenir un dolor de cabeza a causa de dicha punción. Generalmente, no hay necesidad de otros cuidados especiales.
