Valores normales:

Valores a nivel del mar:

  • Presión parcial de oxígeno (PaO2) - 75 a 100 mm Hg
  • Presión parcial de dióxido de carbono (PaCO2) - 35 a 45 mm Hg
  • pH de 7.35 a 7.45
  • Saturación de oxígeno (SaO2) - 94 a 100%
  • Bicarbonato - (HCO3) - 22 a 26 mEq/litro

Nota: mEq/litro = miliequivalentes por litro; mm Hg = milímetro de mercurio.

En altitudes de 900 m (3.000 pies) y más, los valores de oxígeno son más bajos.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Los resultados anormales pueden indicar enfermedades renales, respiratorias o metabólicas. Los resultados también pueden ser anormales con traumatismos craneales o cervicales u otros traumatismos que afecten la respiración.
