Citología del líquido pleural
Se observan células normales.
Cuando el resultado de la prueba es anormal, se presentan células malignas (cancerosas) que pueden ser indicio de un tumor canceroso. Por medio de este examen, a menudo se detecta cáncer de mama, cáncer de pulmón y linfoma.
Una de las condiciones adicionales bajo las cuales se puede realizar el examen es el cáncer que se ha diseminado al pulmón.
