Colonoscopia - Riesgos

Cuáles son los riesgos:

  • Perforación intestinal (un agujero o ruptura en la pared del colon) que requiere una intervención quirúrgica (menos de 1 de cada l.000 exámenes)
  • Sangrado profuso o persistente en los sitios de la biopsia o en los sitios de extirpación de los pólipos (1 de cada 1.000 exámenes)
  • Reacción adversa a los sedantes, causando problemas respiratorios o presión arterial baja (4 de cada 10.000 exámenes)
  • Infección que requiere terapia antibiótica (muy rara)
  • Náuseas, vómitos, distensión o irritación rectal causada por medicamentos orales que limpian los intestinos

Consideraciones especiales:

La persona debe firmar una autorización. Se recomiendan varias horas de reposo después del examen e ingerir bastantes líquidos para reponer los líquidos perdidos debido a los laxantes y al ayuno.
