Un valor normal es cuando el tejido renal muestra una estructura normal.
Un resultado anormal significa que hay cambios en el tejido del riñón, posiblemente debido a una infección, flujo sanguíneo deficiente a través del riñón, enfermedades del tejido conectivo, como lupus eritematoso sistémico, u otras enfermedades que puedan estar afectando al riñón.
En los pacientes transplantados, una biopsia renal anormal puede ser signo de rechazo al transplante.
