Valores normales:

La biopsia es normal si el patólogo informa que las células de la muestra no presentan anomalías.

Significado de los resultados anormales:

Los períodos menstruales anormales pueden ser causados por cáncer endometrial, fibroides uterinos , pólipos uterinos u otras causas.

Si el revestimiento del útero se examina en búsqueda de esterilidad, la muestra puede determinar si este está siendo estimulado apropiadamente por las hormonas para la implantación del óvulo fertilizado.

Otras afecciones bajo las cuales se puede realizar este examen son:

• Sangrado anovulatorio
• Endometritis
• Sangrado anormal si la mujer está tomando tamoxifeno
