Cuáles Son Los Riesgos:

• Existe una pequeña posibilidad de infección en el lugar de la inyección o incisión.
• El sangrado en exceso es poco probable, pero se puede necesitar un drenaje o volver a colocar una nueva venda. Los hematomas son comunes.
• Se presenta cicatriz. Dependiendo de la cantidad de tejido extirpado y la forma como sana la mama, la apariencia de ésta se puede ver afectada.
• Dependiendo de los resultados de la biopsia, es posible que se requiera cirugía o tratamiento posterior.

Consideraciones especiales:

La mayoría de los tumores mamarios se detectan durante un examen manual o una mamografía . La secreción del pezón puede indicar la presencia de un tumor maligno. Incluso, si los resultados de la biopsia son benignos, se recomienda hablar con el médico acerca los exámenes de mama que siguen.
