Intoxicación neonatal por cloranfenicol
Generalmente, no se administra el cloranfenicol a los bebés recién nacidos o prematuros. Se puede administrar sin problema en dosis más bajas; sin embargo, su uso ha disminuido notoriamente con la disponibilidad de nuevos medicamentos para tratar infecciones bacterianas.
El cloranfenicol puede pasársele a un bebé a través de la leche materna y, por lo tanto, puede no ser seguro para la madre tomarlo durante el embarazo o mientras esté amamantando. Este fármaco no se debe tomar sin antes haberlo consultado con el médico, en caso de estar embarazada o en período de lactancia.
