Síndrome respiratorio agudo y grave (SARS) - Symptom

SARS

Síntomas:

Los síntomas distintivos son:

  • Tos
  • Dificultad respiratoria
  • Fiebre superior a 38º C (100.4° F)
  • Otros síntomas respiratorios

Los síntomas más comunes son:

  • Escalofríos y temblores
  • Tos (generalmente comienza de 2 a 3 días después de otros síntomas)
  • Fiebre
  • Dolor de cabeza
  • Dolores musculares

Los síntomas menos comunes abarcan:

  • Tos que produce flema (esputo)
  • Diarrea
  • Mareo
  • Náuseas y vómitos
  • Rinorrea
  • Dolor de garganta

Pruebas y exámenes:

El médico puede escuchar ruidos pulmonares anormales mientras ausculta el pecho con un estetoscopio. En la mayoría de las personas que padecen SARS, los cambios en una radiografía o en una tomografía computarizada del tórax muestran la presencia de neumonía que es típico del SARS.

  • Pruebas de anticuerpos para el SARS.
  • Aislamiento directo del virus del SARS.
  • La prueba de reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (RCP) para el SARS.

Todos los exámenes actuales tienen algunas limitaciones y posiblemente con ellos no se pueda identificar fácilmente un caso de SARS durante la primera semana de la enfermedad, cuando es más importante.
