Fibroadenoma de mama - Información general

Definición:

Es un tumor benigno (no canceroso).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

El fibroadenoma es el tumor benigno más común de las mamas y el tumor mamario más común en las mujeres menores de 30 años. Los fibroadenomas generalmente se encuentran como tumores solitarios, pero alrededor del 10 al 15% de las mujeres tienen varios tumores que pueden afectar ambas mamas.

Las mujeres de raza negra tienden a desarrollar fibroadenomas con más frecuencia y a una edad más temprana que las mujeres blancas. La causa del fibroadenoma se desconoce.
