Después del procedimiento:

Después de la cirugía, usted necesitará permanecer en el hospital durante tres a cuatro días.

Su tobillo estará con un yeso o una férula después de la cirugía. Se dejará allí un tubo pequeño que ayuda a drenar la sangre de la articulación del tobillo durante uno o dos días. Para controlar la hinchazón, mantenga el pie elevado por encima del nivel del corazón mientras esté durmiendo o descansando.

El médico puede recomendar la fisioterapia para enseñarle a usted ejercicios que le ayudarán a movilizarse más fácilmente.

Pronóstico:

Una artroplastia del tobillo efectiva eliminará su dolor y le permitirá mover su tobillo arriba y abajo. Por lo regular, las artroplastias totales de tobillo duran 10 o más años. La duración de la suya dependerá de su nivel de actividad, salud general y la cantidad de daño a la articulación del tobillo antes de la cirugía.
