Ecografía intravascular - Risks

Riesgos:

Existe un ligero riesgo de complicaciones con la angioplastia y el cateterismo cardíaco. Sin embargo, los exámenes son muy seguros cuando los realiza un equipo experimentado. La ecografía intravascular no ofrece ningún riesgo adicional.

En general, los riesgos pueden abarcar:

  • Reacción alérgica a cualquier tinte utilizado durante el examen, al material del stent (endoprótesis) o medicamento utilizado en un stent liberador de fármacos
  • Sangrado o coagulación en el área donde se introdujo el catéter
  • Coágulo de sangre
  • Taponamiento del interior del stent (reestenosis de la endoprótesis)
  • Obstrucción completa del flujo de sangre en un área determinada
  • Daño a una válvula cardíaca o vaso sanguíneo
  • Ataque cardíaco
  • Latidos cardíacos irregulares (arritmia)
  • Insuficiencia renal (un riesgo más alto en personas que ya tienen problemas renales)
  • Accidente cerebrovascular (esto es infrecuente)
