Prevención:

El hecho de no tener relaciones sexuales (abstinencia) es el único método absoluto de prevención de la gonorrea. Una relación sexual monógama con un individuo que se sepa que está libre de cualquier enfermedad de transmisión sexual puede reducir el riesgo. Monógama significa que usted y su compañero o pareja no tienen relaciones sexuales con otras personas.

Usted puede reducir enormemente el riesgo de contraer una enfermedad de transmisión sexual utilizando un condón cada vez que tenga relaciones sexuales. Los condones están disponibles tanto para hombres como para mujeres, pero son utilizados con mayor frecuencia por los hombres. Un condón se tiene que utilizar en forma apropiada cada vez. Para prevenir una mayor diseminación de la infección, es importante el tratamiento de todos los compañeros sexuales.
