Sobredosis - Overview

Definición:

Una sobredosis se presenta cuando se toma una cantidad de algo mayor a lo normal o recomendado, generalmente una droga. Una sobredosis puede ocasionar síntomas graves y dañinos o la muerte.

Si usted toma demasiada cantidad de algo a propósito, se denomina sobredosis deliberada o intencional.

Si la sobredosis sucede por error, se denomina sobredosis accidental. Por ejemplo, un niño pequeño puede accidentalmente tomar un medicamento para el corazón de uso en adultos.

El médico se puede referir a la sobredosis como una ingestión, queriendo decir que usted se tragó algo.

Una sobredosis no es lo mismo que una intoxicación, aunque los efectos pueden ser los mismos. La intoxicación ocurre cuando alguien o algo (como el medio ambiente) lo expone a uno a químicos peligrosos, plantas u otras sustancias dañinas sin su conocimiento.
