Síndrome metabólico - Symptom

Síntomas:

  • Peso extra alrededor de la cintura (obesidad central o abdominal)

Pruebas y exámenes:

Según la Asociación Estadounidense del Corazón (American Heart Association) y el Instituto Nacional para el Corazón, el Pulmón y la Sangre (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute ), el síndrome metabólico está presente si uno tiene tres o más de los siguientes signos:

  • Presión arterial igual o superior a 130/85 mmHg
  • Glucemia (glucosa) en ayunas igual o superior a 100 mg/dL
  • Perímetro de la cintura (longitud alrededor de la cintura):
    • Hombres: 101.6 cm (40 pulgadas) o más
    • Mujeres: 88.9 cm (35 pulgadas) o más
  • Colesterol HDL bajo:
    • Hombres: por debajo de 40 mg/dL
    • Mujeres: por debajo de 50 mg/dL
  • Triglicéridos iguales o superiores a 150 mg/dL
