Hidropesía fetal - Treatment

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento depende de la causa. Durante el embarazo, puede abarcar:

Medicamentos para inducir el trabajo de parto y parto prematuro del bebé.
Parto prematuro por cesárea si el estado empeora.
Darle sangre al bebé mientras aún está en el útero (transfusión sanguínea fetal intrauterina).

El tratamiento para un recién nacido puede abarcar:

La transfusión directa de concentrado de eritrocitos (compatible con el grupo sanguíneo del bebé) y una exanguinotransfusión para librar el cuerpo del bebé de las sustancias que están destruyendo los glóbulos rojos.
Usar una aguja para extraer el líquido adicional alrededor de los pulmones y el área abdominal.
Medicamentos para controlar la insuficiencia cardíaca y ayudar a los riñones a eliminar los líquidos adicionales.
Métodos para ayudar al bebé a respirar, como un respirador.

Pronóstico:

La hidropesía fetal a menudo ocasiona la muerte del bebé poco antes o después del parto. El riesgo es más alto entre los bebés más prematuros y aquellos que están muy enfermos al nacer.

Posibles complicaciones:

Se puede presentar daño cerebral llamado kernicterus.
