Arco aórtico doble - Treatment

Anomalía del cayado aórtico; Cayado aórtico doble

Tratamiento:

Se puede llevar a cabo una cirugía para reparar el arco aórtico doble. Dicha cirugía separa el brazo más pequeño del arco aórtico doble para aliviar la presión sobre el esófago y la tráquea.

El cirujano ata el brazo más pequeño, lo separa del más grande y luego cierra los extremos de la aorta con suturas.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Con la cirugía, se puede tratar el arco aórtico doble. La mayoría de los niños se siente mejor inmediatamente después de la cirugía, aunque algunos pueden continuar teniendo síntomas respiratorios.

En casos excepcionales, si el arco está ejerciendo presión muy fuerte sobre la vía aérea, el niño puede tener dificultad respiratoria grave que lleva a la muerte.

Complicaciones:

  • Retraso en el desarrollo
  • Infecciones respiratorias
  • Desgaste del revestimiento del esófago (erosión esofágica) y la tráquea
  • Muy rara vez una conexión anormal entre el esófago y la aorta (fístula aortoesofágica)

Llame al médico si su bebé tiene síntomas de arco aórtico doble.
