Síndrome de Eisenmenger - Symptom

Síntomas:

  • Ritmo cardíaco anormal (arritmia)
  • Labios, piel y dedos de manos y pies azulados (cianosis)
  • Dolor torácico
  • Expectoración con sangre
  • Vértigo
  • Desmayo
  • Sensación de cansancio
  • Dificultad para respirar
  • Accidente cerebrovascular
  • Hinchazón en las articulaciones causada por la presencia de demasiado ácido úrico (gota)

Signos y exámenes:

El médico examinará al niño. Durante el examen, puede encontrar:

  • Dedos de manos y pies agrandados (dedos hipocráticos)
  • Soplo cardíaco (un sonido extra al auscultar el corazón)

El médico diagnosticará el síndrome de Eisenmenger mirando los antecedentes de problemas cardíacos del paciente. Los exámenes pueden abarcar:

  • Conteo sanguíneo completo (CSC)
  • Radiografía de tórax
  • Resonancia magnética del corazón
  • Colocación de una sonda delgada en una arteria para visualizar el corazón y los vasos sanguíneos y medir las presiones (cateterismo cardíaco)
  • Examen de la actividad eléctrica en el corazón (electrocardiografía)
  • Ecografía del corazón (ecocardiografía)

El número de casos de esta afección en los Estados Unidos ha bajado debido a que los médicos ahora pueden diagnosticar y corregir el defecto con mayor anticipación, antes de que se presente daño irreversible a las pequeñas arterias pulmonares.
