Muestra de orina

La muestra de orina de "toma limpia" se lleva a cabo recogiendo la orina a mitad del chorro. Los hombres y los niños deben limpiarse la cabeza del pene. Las mujeres y las niñas deben lavar el área entre los labios de la vagina con agua jabonosa y enjuagarla bien. Se debe dejar caer en el inodoro una pequeña cantidad de orina antes de tomar la muestra (esto elimina de la uretra elementos contaminantes). Luego, se recoge de una a dos onzas de orina en un recipiente limpio que posteriormente se aparta del chorro de orina. Éste se le entrega al personal médico.
